Bugambilia Sculpture Set

This stainless steel piece, conforms an apparent fragile, yet robust flower shape that reminds us of the bougainvillea, a typical three petal Mexican flower, used in Prehispanic medicine.
Bougainvillea trees can be found all over Mexico and, although we have become accustomed to see the grounds beautifully carpeted by them, their apparent simplicity hides the richness and perfection of Geometry.
BUGAMBILIA, the Mexican name, can be embellishing or functional, presented individually or as a complex modular construction and stacked with other BUGAMBILIAS to create new structures conforming a shelf or with a set of them sustaining a solid low center table.

The Bugainvillea is native to South America and a prevalent plant in Mexico. The flower consists of large colourful sepallike bracts which surround three simple waxy flowers.

Bougainvillea symbolizes beauty, passion, liveliness and life experience and is a sign of welcoming visitors.

The research of PEDRO CERISOLA is centred on the beauty of geometric constructive principles found in nature and how these systems can be applied to the design and fabrication of modular structures. The findings made are applied to the design of furniture, sculptures, playgrounds, lamps, toys and other daily life objects.
