EGYPT COLLECTION, 2021

Marion Friedmann Gallery is thrilled to PRESENT EGYPT, a jewellery collection created by Mexican stone sculptor and artist, Julio Martínez Barnetche. Displaying his artistic brilliance, Julio has meticulously crafted 18 exquisite pieces that showcase his creative vision.

The EGYPT collection takes inspiration from the cultural heritage of ancient Egypt, blending it with modern design. Each piece is handcrafted using first-grade Lapis Lazuli sourced from Afghanistan, known for its mesmerizing azure hue. The use of this gemstone creates a visual impact, evoking a sense of timeless beauty and luxury.
To complement the visual allure of the Lapis Lazuli, Julio expertly incorporates ebony wood into his designs. The warmth and depth of this wood create a contrast with the vibrant blue tones of the gemstone. This balance between materials enhances the visual and tactile experience, allowing each piece to evoke a sense of elegance and sophistication.
Additionally, delicate gold leaf accents serve as embellishments, adding a touch of opulence to the collection. The gold leaf detailing reflects Julio's craftsmanship, further enhancing the allure and desirability of each piece.
The EGYPT collection by Julio Martínez Barnetche promises to captivate art enthusiasts and admirers of fine jewellery alike. Each piece reflects the artist's appreciation for the ancient world while presenting a contemporary interpretation that resonates with the modern collector.

Without intention, this collection honours and resumes the sacredness of Egyptian art. Lapis Lazuli, Ebony wood and gold leaf have been present since ancient times in Egyptian and Middle Eastern cultures. Magnificent art pieces have been manufactured in these three materials for more than five thousand years. The simultaneous use of them is traditionally Egyptian.

This collection is elaborate: highly skilled wax modelling and direct carving of organic shapes in ebony wood and supreme quality 1st-grade Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan combined with hand-made silver chains and gold leaf applications. The collection is a combination of demanding and ancient techniques, which makes these sculptural jewellery pieces PArticularly Exquisite.
