FACTORÍA DE NADA / FACTORY OF NOTHING
‘Where the void gives place to imagination’

Prepare to step into the unexpected. FACTORÍA DE NADA, a new art and design showcase lauhcned during art week 2025 in Mexico City, invites you to explore the paradoxes of creation, consumption, and meaning. this exhibition brought together an eclectic lineup of around 50 artists, designers and performers, who turned “nothing” into something extraordinary.

A SPACE FOR EVERYTHING AND NOTHING:

Curated and presented by Galería Errante (Mexico City), Al Ratito Studio (Mexico City, Los Angeles) and Marion Friedmann Gallery (London, Mexico City), FACTORÍA DE NADA is more than an exhibition; it’s a conversation about what matters in art and design. The title itself—“Factory of Nothing”—is a playful critique of overproduction and materialism, highlighting the beauty of imperfection, the power of absurdity, and the elegance of the unnecessary. All this within the walls of a vast industrial factory that gave home to our creative line-up.
’FACTORÍA DE NADA’ took over an old textile factory (ZANYA) in the historic Azcapozalco district of Mexico City and transformed this historic and charming location into an art and design spectacle.

FACTORÍA DE NADA invites you into a space of creative potential, where the absence of purpose and material production becomes a canvas for imagination. Once a textile factory—an emblem of industry and repetition—this space now transforms into a site of unbridled exploration. Here, ‘nothingness’ is not a void to be feared but a fertile ground for reinvention. The artworks in this exhibition draw from this wellspring of possibility, challenging us to embrace the unknown and reimagine our own notions of meaning and creation.

CUMULAR(IA), is a wall installation made of recycled glass, repurposed from the remnants of another artwork creation by Columbian-Mexican glass artist Luisa Restrepo. She transformes these discarded leftovers into a beautiful piece, giving new life to what was once considered waste.
By lifting debris from past into future possibilities, the work is a journey through memory and material development, in a parallel story, that connects the act of making the first (principal) piece with the surprise and wonder of another artwork emerging.
